Unit of Forest Estimations

Unit of Forest Estimations

Published on: 07 December 2025

This unit is positioned within a broader framework aimed at developing, testing, and applying precise and robust methods for estimating forest resources. This includes, among other activities, the design and implementation of forest inventory systems (national or management-level), the development of allometric equations, and the advancement and validation of rapid and accurate forest resource assessment approaches.

The unit also seeks to deepen the understanding of ecological processes and models governing forest ecosystems and to propose evidence-based management actions and policies. It further examines the relationships between forests and people to inform strategies that enhance socio-ecological resilience. Additionally, the unit investigates the role and impact of gender considerations within global forest governance processes and policies.
