Unit of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning (UIA)

Published on: 07 December 2025

The UIA develops and applies innovative approaches to support agriculture, health, and environmental systems. It brings together multidisciplinary researchers committed to creating predictive models, analyzing complex datasets, and developing digital decision-support tools. Its activities include optimizing agricultural and forestry production systems, strengthening plant health monitoring, leveraging environmental data, and advancing epidemiological modeling.

The unit also applies advanced algorithms—deep learning, probabilistic modeling, spatial analysis, and recommendation systems—to address strategic challenges such as climate change adaptation, sustainable productivity improvement, and early detection of sanitary risks. In collaboration with the laboratory’s other units, it contributes to capacity building, technological innovation, and the transfer of intelligent solutions to public and private stakeholders.
