Training Module in Data Management and Analysis with R Software: Second Phase

From Monday 1st to Friday 5th July 2024, the second session of the online training course on data analysis in R software was held for students and young researchers from Francophone universities that are members of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM). A LABEF team made up of Prof Romain GLELE KAKAÏ along with Dr. Kolawolé Valère SALAKO and PhD-students Clarisse DETE and Yvette MONTCHO facilitated this second session. The Day 1 of this session focused on the interests, principles, steps, and tools for carrying out a systematic review and a meta-analysis. On Day 2, after discussing a few case studies of systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the team presented an overview of methods of multivariate analysis (MVA) and how to choose an MVA method. Days 3, 4, and 5 were devoted to the principles and applications in R Studio of Principal Component Analysis, Correspondence Analysis, and classification (Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering and K-Means clustering) respectively. More than 500 students attended this session. We are grateful to RUFORUM for offering this opportunity, which was eagerly awaited by many of the participants, and for the trust placed in the University of Abomey-Calavi, through our team, in building the capacity of students and young researchers in data analysis. We would also like to thank the participants for their commitment and dedication during these five days of intense activities. The positive feedback received from participants at the end of this session, shows that, there is a clear need for such training courses for doctoral students and young researchers. Keep connected to our social media for future training opportunities.
