During her stay at LABEF, Dr Lauren Lynch conducted two studies. The first study aims to describe the relationships between urbanization and the abundance and diversity of pollinators including honeybees, wild bees, and butterflies in the greater Cotonou area. The second study focused on the development of pollinator-friendly flower mixes to support crop production in West African cities using the case study of Benin. In this second study, Dr Lauren aimed to (i) evaluate these mixes based on germination rates, flower production, and pollinator visitation and (ii) identify the seeding density that maximizes these three evaluation criteria.
After, 7 months of intense field work, Dr Lauren Lynch presented on June 27th a report of her stay at LABEF. It was an occasion to share the progress made so far, the preliminary results, and the next steps. The data are still being analysed and we will keep you posted on the main findings.
Dr Lauren Lynch was an enthusiastic and simple hard worker, with an easy ability to adapt to the field reality.
Our team was happy to host you, and you are always welcome. LABEF is your home, and we wish you the very best.
