Background

Rodrigue Castro Gbedomon is a young African researcher. His studies include a degree in Agricultural sciences, a Master in Forestry and Biodiversity and a PhD in Agronomic Sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi. He is a research associate at the Laboratory of Biomathematics and Forest Estimations (www.labef-uac.org), University of Abomey-Calavi. In addition to his teaching and research, he has taken on several roles in collaborative Research-Development projects wherein scientists, practitioners, local communities and policy makers work together to create knowledge and implement innovations in agricultural and environment fields.

Gbedomon’s research concerns the social dimensions of biodiversity conservation, or, more specifically, how people perceive, use and interact with forest resources in a context of global changes (climate change, social change, etc.). He is interested in advancing knowledge and practices on nature conservation, with a focus on topics such as ecosystem services, urban forestry, forest economics and governance etc.
